All eyes on the MFF: Press Breakfast with the President of the European Committee of the Regions

The European Commission had presented on Wednesday its long-awaited proposal for its next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) – in short, the EU’s long-term budget for the 2028-2034 period.
The next day, the European Newsroom (enr) received the President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), Kata Tüttő, to give her reaction on the proposal and what it means for Europe’s regions and cities.
In the interview, the Hungarian politician from Budapest warned that the plan “cracks the backbone of cohesion policy” and called it “the monster that swallowed cohesion”, signalling her discontent with the lack of consideration of regions’ and cities’ interests.
A group of journalists from enr agencies ANP, dpa, Tanjug, and ANSA, as well as a journalist from non-enr news agency Agence Europe, attended the talks at the enr’s offices in the heart of the European quarter. As usual, the enr team shared the full content of the interview with all the other agencies participating in the project.
Following the talk, Tüttő stayed for an exclusive video interview with the enr as part of its ‘Question Corner’ series, which you can watch here.
The enr also produced two Key Stories about the interview with Tüttő and the Commission’s MFF proposal with a focus on agriculture, which you can read here:

The CoR is an EU advisory body that represents local and regional authorities across the bloc. It is composed of 329 members and 329 alternates who have been elected at local or regional level.
The CoR appoints a president from among its members for a two-and-a-half-year term. Kata Tüttő has been its president since February 2025.
