Denmark and the Netherlands will buy American weapons for Ukraine

Denmark and the Netherlands wish to participate in American President Donald Trump’s plan for Europe to purchase American weapons for Ukraine.
This was made clear during a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Tuesday in Brussels.
Here, Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen (M) states that Trump has put the USA on “the right side” by opening up sales of American weapons to Ukraine.
– Denmark will also do its part, says Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
The USA has, among other things, the Patriot air defense system, which Ukraine needs to shoot down Russian missiles.
However, Trump, with his America first strategy, does not want to use American taxpayers’ money for Ukraine.
Therefore, he wants European allies to pay for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
– We had a meeting with President Zelenskyy and his staff in Denmark two weeks ago when we took over the presidency of the EU. We discussed exactly that.
– The proposal goes hand in hand with what we call the Danish model, where we buy weapons from the Ukrainian defense industry. This is another version of the same. So we are ready to participate, says Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
He emphasizes that there is a need for other European countries to participate as well.
– But we are ready in Denmark. I am proud to say that we are the largest contributor to Ukraine per capita. So we are of course ready for that, says Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
Denmark does not have the Patriot system itself. Therefore, the Danish contribution will be in the form of money. Either by giving money to Ukraine or by paying the USA directly.
– We need to figure out the details. The most important thing is that the USA is now ready to deliver the very important weapon systems, says Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
The Dutch Foreign Minister, Caspar Veldkamp, is also ready to look into the possibility of participating in the arrangement “with a positive attitude,” according to the news agency AFP.
– We will look at what we can do in relation to Trump’s statements and take it from there, says Casper Veldkamp according to AFP.
Donald Trump said on Monday that the USA will send weapons to the defense alliance NATO to support Ukraine in the war against Russia.
– We will make the best weapons, and they will be sent to NATO, Trump said according to Reuters.
The words were spoken during a press conference with NATO Secretary General, the Dutchman Mark Rutte, at the White House.
According to the agreement, NATO will purchase the weapons from the USA and then distribute them to Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated on Monday that Ukraine will receive a huge supply of weapons with the new agreement.
– This will mean that Ukraine will acquire enormous amounts of military equipment, both for air defense and for missiles and ammunition, said Rutte.
