EU funds cross-border cycling route in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

MOSTAR – The cycling route Sarajevo – Mostar – Dubrovnik will soon come to life thanks to a cross-border project funded by the European Union, it was announced on Friday at the 26th International Economic Fair in Mostar.
This is an initiative being developed within the framework of the project RomanWinesDanube, funded by the INTERREG DANUBE 2021-2027 program, and implemented by the Office of the Government of the West Herzegovina County for European Integration, in collaboration with the HerzegovinaBike Association and partners from Croatia.
The 350-kilometer route passes through the landscapes of Bjelašnica, Lukomir, Boračko Lake, Mostar, all the way to the Adriatic coast and Dubrovnik. The goal of the project is to develop cycling tourism as a sustainable and attractive form of tourism that connects natural beauty, cultural heritage, wine routes, and the adventurous spirit of the region.
Digital promotion of the route is expected in June. At that time, all information will be available to cyclists through an online platform.
This project, it was emphasized at the Forum, represents an example of sustainable development that connects local communities, nature, and the economy, and places Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map of attractive European destinations for active tourism. (April 11, 2025)
