Foreign Minister Fajon in Luxembourg on EU Enlargement
Luxembourg – Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon met on Monday with her Luxembourgish counterpart Xavier Bettel to discuss not only bilateral cooperation but also the importance of EU enlargement and efforts to end the military conflicts in Ukraine.
Fajon is convinced that progress of the Western Balkan countries on their European path should be encouraged. She expressed a desire to enable the use of qualified majority voting within the EU for certain intermediate steps in the enlargement process.
Fajon and Bettel also spoke about Ukraine, agreeing that the EU must participate in negotiations and seek a path to peace.
They also focused on strengthening cooperation in the field of space activities, both directly between the countries and within the framework of the European Space Agency.
Fajon also visited the EU Court and met, among others, with the court’s president Koen Lenaerts. (May 19)
