Gonzato: Social services, an important element in the European integration process of Albania

“The House of Colors” in Tirana serves as a safe and welcoming space for children, women, and families who have experienced violence, trafficking, or exploitation.

Managed by the ARSIS Initiative with the support of the European Union, UNICEF, and the Municipality of Tirana, this community center offers emergency shelter, psychological support, counseling, mentoring, and guidance. It also provides opportunities for personal development through youth clubs, creative activities, and community engagement.

The EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, visited the center reaffirming the EU’s ongoing commitment to strengthening inclusive social services, an important element in Albania’s European integration process.

The EU Delegation in Tirana stated that “through the EU4SocialCare program, the EU is proud to support initiatives like this that promote dignity, protection, and hope for those in greatest need.”

“The visit to the House of Colors today was a truly emotional experience. The love and care, the dedication and professionalism of the staff, the gratitude and resilience of the children and mothers I met were touching. I realized how much impact community-based and inclusive social services have. Today I saw up close the work of people who embody the values on which the European Union stands: human rights, solidarity, and non-discrimination,” said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato. (June 13)
