Kubiš: Slovakia’s positions on Ukraine will be clear and readable at the Three Seas summit

Warsaw/Bratislava – Slovakia considers the Three Seas Initiative an important opportunity for the development of cooperation among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Regarding the topic of Ukraine, Slovakia, as a member of the EU and NATO, will adhere to the positions that have been adopted so far, and its stances will be readable and clear. This was stated on Monday by the advisor to President Peter Pellegrini, Ján Kubiš, in connection with the Three Seas summit, which the President of the Slovak Republic is attending in Warsaw on Monday and Tuesday. This was reported by the Warsaw correspondent of TASR.
“There are various formats of cooperation, but evidently not all are effective enough, so we need these formats to communicate a bit with each other, and (we need) to develop in each format those models of cooperation that are possible. This Three Seas Initiative allows for that,” Kubiš said.
The aim of the event, according to the president’s advisor for foreign policy and former head of Slovakia’s diplomacy, is not only to assess the ten years of existence of the initiative but also to seek new paths for cooperation in areas such as energy, infrastructure, security, new technologies, and artificial intelligence.
Kubiš emphasized that Slovak entrepreneurs are already establishing specific agreements for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, with several projects also included in the strategic plans of the European Union.
The summit will also discuss the current situation in Ukraine. Kubiš expects that most participants will adopt a joint statement regarding Ukraine, but Hungary may present its own position. The discussion will also touch on the proposals from the United States for mediating peace negotiations, which, according to Kubiš, may provoke certain internal tensions among the participants.
