Ministry of Investments of the Slovak Republic: Over 6 million euros from EU funds will improve life in the regions

Bratislava – The Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization (MIRRI) of the Slovak Republic continues to support projects that improve life in the regions. In recent days, the ministry has signed contracts for 11 new projects worth more than 6.1 million euros from EU funds from the Slovakia Program. They will bring more beautiful public spaces, modern schools, new sports facilities, and more greenery and water in cities and municipalities across Slovakia. TASR reports on MIRRI’s position.
“When we invest in schools, playgrounds, or parks, we are not just investing in buildings and benches – we are investing in children, in communities, and in the quality of life in the regions. We want people to live better where they reside, and for children to have the opportunity to learn in an environment that meets today’s standards. Such projects make sense because they combine modern education with quality public space – and that is exactly the Slovakia we want to create,” said Minister of Investments Samuel Migaľ (independent).
According to data from the press department of the ministry, the funds will go to various projects in seven of the eight territorial self-governing units of Slovakia.
From the mentioned amount, projects will be supported in the cities and locations of Bratislava, Trnava, Prievidza, Šurany, Žilina, Zvolenská Slatina, Rimavská Sobota, Snina, Medzilaborce, and Topoľovka. These will be projects that stimulate community education and leisure activities, ensure the reconstruction and creation of sports and recreational zones, and increase greenery in public spaces, supporting a healthier environment with lower noise intensity and more space for community life. Several projects are focused on the renovation of schools, with the construction of sports and recreational areas, the reconstruction of school gyms; modernization of the Primary School with Kindergarten or the creation of a so-called SMART school of the 21st century.
Funds from EU sources through the Slovakia Program are also intended for the reconstruction of residential buildings, the restoration of the historical monument Small Castle in the town of Snina, and the revitalization of the surroundings of the Andy Warhol Museum in Medzilaborce, the only museum of its kind in Europe.
