Mucunski: Hungary remains one of the loudest and most dedicated supporters of our European aspirations

Skopje – A Agreement for strategic cooperation between the two governments and a Memorandum of Understanding and implementation of the “Stipendium Hungaricum” program for the period 2026 – 2028 was signed today by the Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timčo Muцунски and his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó, who is visiting the country.
As Muцунски emphasized at today’s joint press conference with Szijjártó, the signing of these documents represents strong evidence of the firm alliance between the two countries.
Muцунски informed that at today’s meeting they discussed the further deepening of political and economic relations, as well as Hungary’s continued support for our European aspirations.
– Hungary remains one of the loudest and most dedicated supporters of the European perspective of the entire region. This was proven during its presidency of the EU Council. We are sincerely grateful for that principled and genuine support, especially in the context of our expectations for progress in the EU accession process. In a year when the world marks 80 years since the victory over fascism and 75 years since the Schuman Declaration, the foundation of the European peace project, we remain firmly committed to our strategic goal – full membership in the EU with a clear and predictable dynamic, emphasized Muцунски.
The minister emphasized that in the area of foreign trade they have established productive cooperation with the Hungarian Ministry, from which they expect concrete results. He reminded that Hungary is among the top ten largest trading partners of the country and one of the leading foreign investors, which, as he said, represents more than a solid basis for further economic connectivity.
– As partners and allies in NATO, we continue to build an open, sincere, and strategically oriented cooperation, and I am convinced that this positive dynamic will be further affirmed at the upcoming 76th NATO Summit, emphasized Muцунски. (June 13, 2025)
