Rishabh Pant Injury Update

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave a big update on Rishabh Pant on Thursday. He hurt his right foot on the first day of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford.
Pant was hurt when he tried to hit a reverse sweep off England all-rounder Chris Woakes and was forced to leave the game on 37. He was clearly in pain and needed help getting off the field in a golf buggy. Further medical tests have verified that he has a broken metatarsal in his right foot, which means he can’t keep wicket for the rest of the match.
The BCCI has also said that Dhruv Jurel will be the new wicketkeeper.
Even though he had a setback, Pant joined the squad on Day 2 and is still able to bat in the second innings, depending on what the team needs and what the medical team says.
At first, it was thought that Pant would miss not just the rest of the Manchester Test but also the fifth and final Test at The Oval, which starts on July 31. However, the BCCI has not yet formally confirmed that he would be able to play in the final match.
Footage that went viral on social media showed Pant outside the team hotel in Manchester wearing a moon boot on his right leg. This made people even more worried about how bad the injury was.
Reports say that team captain Shubman Gill went to see Pant at the medical centre on the field before he was transferred to a nearby hospital for scans.
This is Pant’s second injury in a row. Earlier, while keeping wickets for England in the first innings at Lord’s, he had hit his left index finger.
Dhruv Jurel took over for him then, and he is anticipated to be the wicketkeeper again in Manchester. Pant’s first-innings knock of 37 off 48 balls was a mix of style and patience. He hit a booming slog sweep for four off Jofra Archer, immediately before the reverse sweep that hurt him.
India is behind in the five-match series, 2-1. The fourth Test started on July 23 in Manchester, and the last Test will be at The Oval from July 31 to August 4.
