“Security Hub” can monitor ceasefire – new strategy for the Black Sea region
Brussels – The EU Commission wants to establish a maritime security center for the Black Sea and sees it as an embryo for monitoring a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
“It will be the EU’s first early warning system in the Black Sea, increasing knowledge of the area and helping to protect critical infrastructure such as offshore installations and underground cables,” says Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas at a press conference in Brussels.
The proposal is part of a new strategy for the Black Sea region where the EU also hopes to build better transport routes and increase cooperation in the energy sector.
