The Minister in Moldova ensured Slovenia’s support on the path to the EU

Chisinau – The Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon during her visit to Moldova welcomed the progress of this country on its path to the European Union and assured her support in this regard. She also advocated for strengthening political dialogue between the two countries and accelerating economic cooperation.

Fajon praised the progress and reforms adopted during her meeting with the Moldovan President Maia Sandu, particularly in the areas of the rule of law, democratic institutions, human rights, the fight against corruption, and economic reforms. She stated that Slovenia is available to Moldova with the knowledge it has in this area and assured her support for the future.

They also touched upon the war in Ukraine, agreeing that Europe must do more for peace, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MZEZ).

Slovenia will continue to assist in this area through development projects. Among them is a project in the field of medical and psychosocial assistance to Ukrainian refugee children in Moldova.

In a meeting with the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, the minister spoke primarily about the possibilities of deepening cooperation in the areas of economic and environmental collaboration, tourism, renewable resources, and information technology in light of EU integration.

Grosu highlighted Slovenian expertise in addressing climate change, waste management, and circular economy, stating that Slovenia serves as a model for Moldova in this regard, as reported by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (June 10).
